Bobby Gene, as i liked to call him, was the funniest person that I have ever known.  His wit and creativity kept me laughing for hours and many times would reduce me too tears....he was that funny. I was fortunate in being able to enjoy Bobs company for many years as we grew old together. Bob had a distinguished military career, earning 2 purple hearts and 3 bronze stars, while honorably serving his country in South VietNam. Bob was buried with full military honors at Fort Leavenworth, Ks.  I miss him and I am proud to have been his friend.

Steve --

Your words about Bob are wonderful. Bob was a truly kind person who always cared about others. I didn't know about his extraordinary service. We need to know this. And thank you, for your service in Vietnam.

Well said, Steve.  He was truly a genuine person and, as he demonstrated, a very brave soldier.  RIP, Bob.

I went thru basic training with Bob and Bob Rae (1964).Bob G made it more than interesting because the Army did not always appreciate his sense of humor. He and I spent one night guarding concrete fox holes in the desert outside of Fort Bliss. I don't think I have laughed as hard all night being sober as I did that night. Luckily the rattlesnakes did not get away with the fox holes. Steve Morgan "forgot" to mention that he was also wounded and recieved medals.

Minard -- This is a great story about you and Bob Grissom! I can just see you cracking up by the concrete bunkers (with that great smile you always had). So glad the rattlers didn't get you guys! Thank you for your service.

I think of Bob frequently.   He was the life of the party, made us all laugh but had some hard times in life.  I intend to remember him again and bring his short life to the forefront but for a few seconds with a toast at the reunion dinner.  Steve said it well above and let's bring him to life  again but for a moment October 10th......Gary Skoog
