Following graduation I attended two years of college, then enlisted in the Marine Corps. I was fortunate that my four year enlistment took me to California for six months and to Oahu, Hawaii, for 38 months. Following separation from the service, I resumed my college education, while working for my father in the automobile business. I was married in November, 1971, and graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in Business Management in 1973. In 1974 I began working as a police officer in Ottawa, Ks.
