Carmella Lee (O'Dwyer)

Carmella Martha O'Dwyer, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 15, 2026, in Olathe, KS. Born on July 15, 1947, in Hazleton, PA, she was the only sister to her brothers, Jim, Carl, and Paul Lee.

Carmella was a devoted mother to her three sons — Jerry O'Dwyer (Ginger), John O'Dwyer (Heather), and Jimmy O'Dwyer (Randi) — and helped shape their lives with her strong faith and unwavering support. Her home was filled with family gatherings, Italian cooking, and laughter around the kitchen table.

Carmella was proud of her Italian roots. Her Lia family heritage gave us beloved recipes of Italian sausage and peppers, meatballs, and frittata.

She was the owner of Best of Pets in Spring Hill, where she cared for many dogs and cats, finding joy and taking pride in serving them and their families.

Carmella was blessed with 15 grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nonna." She taught them "ti'amo" (Italian for "I love you") — words that will remain in their hearts whenever spoken aloud.

She raised her boys with her former spouse, Fred O'Dwyer, who survives her. She was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Carmella was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Christensen; her parents, Paul and Olive Lee; her brother, Felix Lee; and her granddaughter, Frannie.

She will be remembered for her hugs, and the family traditions she created, along with the deep Catholic faith that carried her throughout life.

Dorothy said it best in The Wizard of Oz: "There's no place like home." Carmella is home now, at rest with her Savior.
