Most of you probably didn't know Walter Male, fewer still might remember him. He was one of those "invisable" people in HS. Our mothers were always friends and I got to know him when at Tomahawk. His parents were older, he had a grown brother when he was young. He was there, at about age 5, when his father died in front of him. He was always shy and awkward.   We drifted in different directions, but I still saw  him at church. I could still have been a friend at West or KU, but as with all of us I was too busy. He dropped out of KU,  as a favor I cashed in his books,  the last time I talked to him.   Some years later he took his life. I feel so sorry for all our classmates who were taken so early. So much of  life missed, that those of us who are so fortunate, have experienced.  Some of our friends have many to express our memories. Many I miss too. But I just felt someone should remember Walt too.

Everyone would like to think that they made a difference in this world.  I'm so sorry to hear about this.  I believe that we were in homeroom together, but I didn't know him.  Thanks for the tribute, Craig.

craig...i remember walter.  he lived one block over from me when we were at tomahawk grade school.  he

was as you mentioned a shy and retiring person, blending into the background.  when i drive thru the "old"

neighborhood, i pass his house and think of him.  was unaware he had died.     ginny arnold
